This is a face to face course delivered a over 2 consecutive days from 9am-4pm at our classroom in Everton Park.

Program overview

 

The Mental Health First Aid Program is an evidence-based, accredited program. The program covers the signs and symptoms of common and disabling mental health problems in adults, how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide mental health first aid in a crisis situation using a practical, evidence-based action plan.

This course focuses on the workplace and provides relevant information and tailored scenarios and exercises that will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to provide initial mental health first aid to assist colleagues, clients, and other workplace contacts who may be developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis, and how to connect people needing assistance to existing workplace supports and external professional help.

Your course leader is Liz Tully, a fully accredited and licenced Mental Health First Aid® Instructor specialising in workplace mental health.  Liz is the founder and owner of Mental Wealth at Work.  After working in human resources roles for 20+ years, and with her own experience of a mental health condition, she brings a practical and empathetic lens to workplace mental health.  Liz has worked across a range of industries including pharmaceutical, travel, retail, telco and blue collar workplaces. With this experience and knowledge, she assists organisations across Australia create more mentally healthy workplaces.  Understanding that workplaces have different needs, Liz uses a tailored approach to her clients to best suit their needs.

Mental Health First Aid Australia is a national not-for-profit provider of mental health first aid education that equips individuals with the knowledge and skills when it matters most.​​  At the completion of your course you will be an

Accredited Mental Health First AiderTM with Mental Health First Aid AustraliaR.

Participants who satisfactorily complete the assessment will receive a Certificate of Accreditation from Mental Health First Aid Australia, valid for three years.

This is not a VET-accredited course.

 

Please note this is an education course designed to teach people the skills to give first aid to others in a workplace setting.
